Toyota Trek will be an expansion in the Corolla Touring Sports estate lineup and has been produced as a result of Toyota’s collaboration with TREK, a bicycle manufacturer. It stands out among its variants as a slightly off-road or rugged version.
Toyota Trek has been given an off-road touch by raising its suspension about 20nm. It is also visible with the added plastic cladding all around the car, along with the bigger 17-inch bespoke rims. Which makes it 20 mm longer and 15 mm wider than the rest of the variants.
This new variant, just like the whole Corolla lineup, seems to be a practical car, for a family’s usage. It adds privacy glass at the rear and provides Fog lamps and LED headlamps as standard.
The Corolla touring sports estate already has a sportier and more streamlined design coupled with its quite aggressive looking front. It will stand out from the rest with its honeycomb styled front grill, which will further add to the aesthetics of this car.
The Toyota Trek gets a few updates in its interior as well. It will be fitted with Trek door sills to match up with the off-road theme of the car. It will be coming in two toned, brown, fabric seats along with some wooden looking interior trims. However, these seats can also be upgraded to leather ones as an option.
The Toyota Corolla Trek will be available with hybrid engines only in two versions. Twin powertrains consist of a 120 bhp 1.8L petrol hybrid engine and a 178 bhp 2.0L petrol hybrid engine, both linked to a CVT transmission. The 1.8L option will provide the customer with the fuel economy of 56.5 mpg, the 2.0L version will give him 53.3 mpg. In overall, these petrol hybrid versions are very fuel economically while compared to diesel offerings from other manufacturers and reduced emisions as a bonus. The 1.8L engine is powerful enough to accelerate to 62 mph from rest in 11.1 seconds, and it does the reverse in 8.1 seconds.
Toyota, in addition to making sure that the Treks off-road look, also ensures that it drives safely on highways and in cities. It will have adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assistance making highways safer. It will also be equipped with a pre-collision detector system that can detect approaching pedestrians, and cyclists to help the driver in cities. The other safety systems are auto high beam control and road sign assist systems. It will include seven air bags meant for passenger safety in the event of a collision.
