Disinfecting Your Car’s Interior For Coronavirus

Disinfecting Your Cars Interior For Coronavirus

Coronavirus (Covid-19) is a deadly virus, it enters in your body through your mouth, nose, or eyes balls. Though, a larger amount of the virus is expected to be spread through respiration i.e. inhaling in the moisture content containing the virus.

It also tends to spread through surfaces. When you touch a surface contaminated by the virus, your hands carry the virus with them, and you then have the possibility of spreading the virus even further by touching various surfaces. And if you end up touching your face with the same hands, it will then easily breach inside your body.

Although many states and countries have ordered a complete shutdown, still many of you need your vehicle to go to the grocery store or your workplace if necessary. Your car can get contaminated by the virus through your hands or a passenger. So after getting back to your place and washing your hands, you also need to disinfect your car from the virus just to lower the risk of it spreading.

To disinfect your car, you can simply use a soapy water solution and spray it on the usually touched places. Then wipe them with a clean microfiber towel. Although, you don’t want to rub too hard with the cloth onto the leather upholstery to avoid discoloration.

Isopropyl Alcohol (from above 60% concentration) as effective as it is in exterminating the virus, will not damage your car’s interior at all. Isopropyl alcohol is mainly used in industries themselves in cleaning most of the components, so they are designed to withstand moderate concentrations of it. But avoid using alcohol onto leather and porous vinyl.

Spray isopropyl alcohol onto the component or dab it onto the microfiber cloth, and while the cloth is still damp, rub it onto the component until it dries off.

Also, remember to use microfiber cloth only specifically for this reason and avoid any other type of cloth, for example, tissue or wipes, that might ruin your car’s interior. In addition, friction is known to help in killing the virus, so rub each part well after the disinfectant is applied.

The most common touch points in a car that you need to disinfect include steering, air vents, AC knobs, multimedia, gear knob, handbrake, door handles, etc.

Ensure that you wash your hands one more time after disinfecting the car and avoid touching your face at all if you suspect that your hands may be contaminated. So, in the long run, all these moves are done for your own good.

Therefore, keep safe and wash your hands often.
