Engineering, aesthetics, efficiency, reliability, history – all of the highest order. The list of qualities could go on, but the bottom line is the brand sits right up there in the global automobile picture as one of the most respected and revered, both on and off the track.

Staying away from racing pedigree, Audi’s record in the commercial market is outstanding, not least down to the constant stream of excellence rolling off their production line. The question is if you had to pick the best production Audis of all time, what would you go for?

A tough one, we know, but here are four names that undoubtedly belong near the very top of the list.

Audi TT

Audi TT Best Audi Cars 6
Audi TT – Best Audi Cars

The hairdresser’s car, right? A tough tag to stomach for the manliest of men back through the late 90s and early 00s who loved the TT’s aesthetics, but now that nonsense is long in the past, the TT can be appreciated for what it is – a design icon.

The car that gave Audi its identity from a design perspective, the TT is arguably the most recognizable creation from the brand that there is. An ever-present since 1998, today’s TTs have a more muscular and angular build than the original, more rounded offering, with plenty of bite under the bonnet, as well.

The Audi RS6/RS6 Avant

Audi RS6 Avant Best Audi Cars 1
Audi RS6 Avant – Best Audi Cars

Nobody would expect an estate car to make this list, but a turbocharged, supercar rivaling family car is certainly worthy of note. The RS6 Avant is only one-half of the original beastly RS6 duo, with a saloon option carrying the non-Avant name tag. At 571hp, the second generation RS6 was the most powerful car Audi had ever released to the market. Today, only the Avant estate (or wagon, as Audi would tell you) has carried forward into its fourth generation, but it’s more of a monster than ever.

Get the Vorsprung pack and ceramic brakes on the latest model and you’ll be able to achieve speeds of up to 190mph while having space for a family of four and all the bags for your trip. A practical family wagon with supercar qualities – whose idea was that?

Audis – and we love it.

Audi Quattro

Audi Quattro – Best Audi Cars

If you love your rallying, or even if you have any passing interest in the world of motorsport, there’s a good chance you’re somewhat familiar with the Audi Quattro. One of the most iconic World Rally entries ever, the Quattro boats eight WRC titles to its name. In production terms, it was the brand’s first car that offered AWD with a turbo engine to boot.

Such is the legacy of the Quattro, the name is now given to any Audi that offers AWD. In design terms, it’s also right up there with the TT in distinguishing the manufacturer in a cultural light and is undoubtedly one of the greatest Audis ever made.

Audi R8

Audi R8 Best Audi Cars 1
Audi R8 – Best Audi Cars

Audi may be fiddling around with supercharged wagons, but they’re also happy to pump out legitimate supercars. The RS8, which has been around since 2006, is easily Audi’s most recognizable high-performance effort in today’s market and is one of the most desirable cars money can buy in 2021.

Based on the Lamborghini Gallardo platform, the R8 is noteworthy in supercar terms for its handling and usability – often dubbed a great “my first supercar” option (good to know for when we’re all buying our first supercar). Again, the design is outstanding and instantly recognizable, and it’s likely we’re witnessing a true brand classic in its prime.

There’s no such thing as a bad Audi, whether that’s the second-hand A3 still doing the job for you after 10 years or one of their track-inspired monsters that cost a small fortune. Sometimes you’ve just got to step back and appreciate a brand for what it is, and the four rings of Audi deserve all the respect in the world.

5 Vehicles Best Suited for UK Cab Drivers https://automotivesblog.com/5-vehicles-best-suited-for-uk-cab-drivers/ https://automotivesblog.com/5-vehicles-best-suited-for-uk-cab-drivers/#respond Tue, 27 Apr 2021 17:33:19 +0000 https://automotivesblog.com/?p=3453 More]]> Are you a taxi driver? Possibly you are thinking of becoming a taxi driver? If you wish to drive as economically as possible and have more money in your pocket, it is wise to buy a proper car. Whether you are looking for a taxi, we present five of the best taxis on the market and why they are great so that you can pick between models.

Nissan Leaf

In 2020, comparison site Uswitch investigated which cars would be best for taxi drivers. The 2019 Nissan Leaf took the number one spot, offering 108 MPG equivalent (MPGe), at a cost of a mere £0.04 per mile. What’s more, the car requires zero tax on behalf of being a fully electric vehicle (EV) and was said to have a highly comfortable interior too – important for obtaining that five-star rating.

With fossil-fuelled cars set to be banned by 2030, we’re certain that EVs like the Leaf will continue to spread in popularity amongst the taxi driver community, especially as EV prices continue to drop.

Kia Soul

Next on Uswitch’s rankings was the 2019 Kia Soul. Another EV, the Soul had the same MPGe and cost per mile of the Leaf, only slightly missing out due to its smaller boot and legroom. Nevertheless, the Soul is a nicely affordable EV that is sure to protect cab drivers that use it from having to pay to enter the clean air and low emission zones that are cropping up across the UK.

Ford Focus Estate

The only diesel in the top five was the Ford Focus Estate 2019. It is more expensive to run than the two electrics higher up the rankings and requires vehicle tax at £365 per year. Yet, its 80 MPG engine that runs at £0.05 per mile means that the estate is cheap to run, as well as boasting plenty of comfort and luggage space – great for airport taxi routes.

Skoda Octavia

Fourth in Uswitch’s rankings was the 2019 Skoda Octavia. A petrol vehicle, the Octavia nevertheless fared well in terms of efficiency but truly excelled with it came to comfort rating and luggage space. Award-winning, Skodas are a very popular taxi choice due to their no-nonsense practicality, low running costs, and ever-improving cabin quality – the perfect combination for a working vehicle.

Mercedes E-Class

While it may not be the greenest vehicle on this list, the Mercedes E-Class caters well to taxi drivers who serve customers looking for a more premium experience. In this role, it excels, coming top of Uswitch’s ranking for comfort with a perfect score, and displaying fantastic lines that set it apart from other cars on the road.

That’s not only good for passengers, of course, but drivers too. If you’re ferrying passengers across town for 12-hour stretches at a time, you may as well do so in as comfortable a means as possible.

What’s the Point of the 2021 Lexus LC Convertible? https://automotivesblog.com/whats-the-point-of-the-2021-lexus-lc-convertible/ https://automotivesblog.com/whats-the-point-of-the-2021-lexus-lc-convertible/#respond Sun, 18 Oct 2020 20:22:04 +0000 https://automotivesblog.com/?p=2636 More]]> For most people, a car is all about taking care of the family or covering the daily commute.   The 2021 Lexus LC Convertible is not one of those rides. It doesn’t intend to serve a purpose.

If a fashion designer and a free spirit got together to design a car, this is it. The LC coupe is a car for any enthusiast, whether they love luxury, sport, or performance. Obviously, the convertible takes that fun and style even further.

2021 Lexus LC Convertible 2

Another reviewer called it a minicompact. That’s a polite term for tiny. No family would want to take this car on a long trip. It has a cramped backseat and a tiny trunk.  Four people could fit, but they’d never get their luggage into the car.

Lexus is usually known for the brand’s deals on cars, but in this case, the $100,000-plus price tag is watertight. If the shopper can spring for a $1,500 per month lease or loan, they will forget all about that. This car is a show-stopper. At this price, it ought to be handsome, but the Lexus LC Convertible exceeds expectations.

2021 Lexus LC Convertible 5

Clearly, Lexus knows it must compete with Porsche and Mercedes-Benz to attract shoppers. To do that, the designers achieved a distinctive look with a serious Aston Martin vibe. Every inch mimics motion. An hourglass grille, a sweeping roofline, and a tapered body form a rich tableau. When the top is dropped, the wow factor just increases.

Small and maneuverable, the Lexus LC has a 471-horsepower engine. The convertible makes the occupants feel like they are flying. The driver can make a show of it with a tap of the accelerator.  The torque rate is 398 pound-feet. Clearly, this is a driver’s car, and it intends to compete with Audi and other performance cars.

2021 Lexus LC Convertible 4

While most Lexus are fuel sippers, this one makes no pretense about it. The LC thrives on premium unleaded for its thirsty V8 engine. If that worries the buyer, they can always opt for the much less thirsty LC 500h coupe. This hybrid still has good looks, but it is much leaner, cleaner, and greener.

Drivers have the fun of rear-wheel drive and all of that power to make every ride more exciting. It might make a run to the store more interesting. Of course, the owner of this car isn’t likely to do their own shopping.

The thrill of owning this car certainly goes beyond the good looks and the performance. The interior is rich in leather and top quality materials. Every inch is either high-tech or designed with high-tech.

2021 Lexus LC Convertible Interior 5

Lexus even has automatic driver assistance on board to keep the car out of an accident. The most serious driving enthusiasts may need a little help with blind spot monitoring or emergency braking. They may enjoy a little lane drift. Yet this is the future, and the car definitely represents the best of today’s automated features.

Perhaps the purpose of the 2021 Lexus LC Convertible is to simply exist. Beautiful and fast, there’s little to stand in its way. Owners will have to seek the open road just to open this car up and see what it can do.

Should You Buy a Hydrogen Car? https://automotivesblog.com/should-you-buy-a-hydrogen-car/ https://automotivesblog.com/should-you-buy-a-hydrogen-car/#respond Fri, 26 Jun 2020 09:58:56 +0000 https://automotivesblog.com/?p=2295 More]]> Hydrogen cars are almost like Electric Vehicles (EVs) but with a hydrogen fuel tank, they are powered by a hydrogen fuel cell. However, they are not very popular at the moment and there is not much choice available for buyers. It is said that hydrogen cars will scale at some point when hydrogen fuel becomes cheaper than gasoline, which is not looking to be the case in the near future.

Hydrogen cars provide a longer range than any other vehicle on the road today, thanks to the hydrogen fuel technology. These cars have both internal combustion and electric motors, they switch between the two intelligently when needed, giving a good mpg to the consumer.

When it comes to buying a hydrogen car, there are only three choices available today. All these cars come with three years’ worth of free hydrogen fuel.

Toyota Mirai

Toyota Mirai Hydrogen Car 1

Toyota has been a leader when it comes to making cars running on batteries, they first came up with the Prius which is still a very popular and reliable hybrid car. Mirai is Toyota’s answer to hydrogen cars and it somehow shares its looks with Prius.

Power150hp
Range312 miles and gives 60mpg
Energy1.6kWh
Torque247lb-ft
Hydrogen Tanks2
PriceStarts at $58,000

Hyundai Nexo

Hyundai Nexo Hydrogen Car

Hyundai Nexo is a crossover hydrogen car and is styled very beautifully. It was the world’s first fuel-cell car, making Hyundai the pioneer. Nexo looks very futuristic and shares its DNA with Hyundai’s other gasoline-based crossovers. Hyundai plans to make more eco-friendly cars in the next 5 years like the Nexo, which releases nothing but pure air from exhaust.

Power161hp
Range380 miles and gives 65mpg
Energy1.5kWh
Torque291lb-ft
Hydrogen Tanks3
PriceStarts at $58,000

Honda Clarity

Honda Clarity Hydrogen Car

Honda Clarity is said to be a good all-rounder and the fastest hydrogen car. It drives just like any other sedan and feels like a Honda. It is the only hydrogen car that gives maximum mpg.

Power174hp
Range360 miles and gives 88mpg
Energy1.2kWh
Torque291lb-ft
Hydrogen Tanks3
PriceStarts at $38,000

It is a fact that hydrogen cars will not replace EVs in the near future, they offer benefits of higher range and mpg when compared to gasoline and EVs. As a verdict, hydrogen cars are worth exploring when the time comes to buy your next car, as they offer great longer-term value.

2020 Genesis GV80 Is Officially Launched https://automotivesblog.com/2020-genesis-gv80-is-officially-launched/ https://automotivesblog.com/2020-genesis-gv80-is-officially-launched/#respond Sat, 18 Jan 2020 19:44:25 +0000 https://automotivesblog.com/?p=1441 More]]> “The first SUV by Genesis” has been officially launched in Seoul, South Korea, the model coming as the main competitor of the new BMW X5 and Audi Q7. This announcement follows a series of leaked images  from last year, and teaser videos a couple of days ago that gave us a closer insight on how the model would look and feel.

Even if for now the Genesis GV80 will be available only in South Korean, customers worldwide will get a taste of it towards the third quarter of the year. It will be highly-technologized and extremely affordable, if we were to compare it with the likes of the BMW X5 or Audi Q7 in their latest shapes. And the technology it comes with, it is absolutely mind-blowing.

Inside, things are brought to a whole new level, thanks to the high-end materials and technology at its best. And yes, it is the same technology you can find on the new 7-Series or brand-new Audi A8, only it comes standard. So, you don’t have to empty your pockets for additional features. Standard is the 12.3-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along the plethora of safety features, also coming as standard. These include rear cross traffic alert, lane keep assist, forward collision warning, or Safe Exit Assist, the latter one warning the driver of oncoming traffic when the door is open. There is also the manufacturer`s Highway Driving Assist system with adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist, both being semi-autonomous systems that keep track of bumper-to-bumper traffic on the highway.

Under the hood, the 2020 Genesis GV80 will come with a with a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V6 offered with 274 horsepower and 589 Nm of torque, and hooked to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Later on, the South Korean carmaker would also introduce a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder, developing 300 horsepower and 422 Nm of torque. Both engines will be sold in the United States.

The South-Korean-based carmaker has also released the official press release in Seoul, announcing the arrival of the 2020 Genesis GV80 on the market. Details of the luxury SUV are also fully-described, including the advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and the technology it comprises. Enjoy!

Official Press Release

“GENESIS LUXURY FLAGSHIP SUV GV80 DEBUTS IN SEOUL

SEOUL, South Korea, January 15, 2020 – Today, Genesis officially launched GV80, its first sport-utility vehicle. GV80 introduces a variety of firsts for the Genesis brand, including a six-cylinder diesel, electronically controlled suspension with road preview, and active noise control. The launch event and media test drive took place at the Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX) west of Seoul.

“GV80 represents the essence of the innovative spirit of Genesis,” said William Lee, Executive Vice President and Global Head of the Genesis Brand. “As we launch GV80, our first luxury flagship SUV, we simultaneously open a new chapter for Genesis.”

The “V” in the GV80 marque represents versatility that only a Genesis SUV can offer. The production GV80 realizes the vision of the GV80 Concept first shown at the 2017 New York auto show.

Athletic Elegance Takes New Shape

The GV80 SUV joins the lineup of G70, G80 and G90 sedans with more than a common thread of design identity. The interior and exterior styling of GV80 was a collaboration between Genesis Design studios located in South Korea, the United States and Germany.

“We enjoyed the challenge to apply ‘Athletic Elegance’ design language to SUV architecture,” said Luc Donckerwolke, Executive Vice President, Chief Design Officer of Hyundai Motor Group. “The precise proportions and attention to every detail denote that GV80 is authentic to Genesis design principles.”

Signature Genesis design elements are immediately visible on GV80, from every vantage point. The Crest Grille emphasizes gravitas consistent with the positioning of GV80. The Parabolic Line runs smoothly along the side with precise execution, accentuated by power lines above each wheel emphasizing stance and presence. The Quad Lamps, which flank the Crest Grille, are made possible with sophisticated lighting technology.

“The Quad Lamp graphic will become the most recognizable, unique signature of Genesis design, as the simplest of lines communicate a distinct identity,” Donckerwolke said. “Two lines will come to define Genesis.”

The G-Matrix pattern that appears in light fixtures throughout the exterior is inspired by beautiful orchids seen when diamonds are illuminated by light. The pattern also appears on the available 22-inch wheels.

The body structure of GV80 is enhanced with hot-stamped, high-strength steel, as well as lightweight aluminum used on the doors, hood, and tailgate that allow it to achieve competitive curb weight.

Luxury in Space

The interior of GV80 focuses on “the beauty of white space,” characteristic of the elegant South Korean architectural philosophy. The concept of “luxury in space” defines the open feeling of the cabin of GV80, with the G-Matrix pattern as a motif.

“We were able to express a luxurious feel for the interior of GV80 through reductive design and channeling the Korean roots of the Genesis brand,” said SangYup Lee, Senior Vice President, Head of Genesis Design. “The concept of the ‘beauty of white space’ is a hallmark of Korean design.”

The width of the interior of GV80 was emphasized through the design of sleek, thin air vents that run across the passenger compartment. A 14.5-inch, split-screen infotainment display sits front and center atop the dashboard. The number of hard buttons and switches was intentionally kept to a minimum, both for aesthetic purposes and ease of use. Soft materials cover every surface, from the inside of the door handles to the quilted knee pads that line the lower sides of the console.

The ornate center control unit on the center console covers an electronic, shift-by-wire transmission base with dial-style shift. Handwriting recognition through the Genesis Integrated Controller helps users set a destination or enter phone numbers without having to operate a keyboard on the navigation screen—simply by using handwritten letters on the writing recognition control system.

A Mobile Oasis

All journeys in GV80 are intended to be as stress-free as possible, whether a commuting to the office or embarking on a weekend trip. Augmented reality navigation utilizes virtual driving guidelines over actual driving images to help drivers recognize roads. Video taken by the front-mounted camera will be displayed on the infotainment screen, and the optimal driving path will be displayed in a virtual graphic so that the driver can drive along the route easily and accurately.

GV80 features the world’s first application of Road-Noise Active Noise Control (RANC) technology, which dramatically reduces road noise while driving. Based on the science of digital signal processing, RANC overcomes the limitations of existing noise control technologies that rely on physical technology, such as materials and body structures, to quiet the cabin. RANC generates sound waves of opposite phases in 0.002 second by analyzing road noise in real time, dramatically reducing irregular, simultaneous road noise.

Another world-first technology is an active motion driver’s seat that contains seven air cells: a feature that reduces fatigue from long hours of driving. One-touch comfort control, adjustable from the front row, allows for limousine-level relaxation in the second-row seats. Heated and ventilated seats are available in the first two rows.

In addition, the GV80 is equipped with an air purification system that automatically operates according to indoor air quality, through an in-vehicle fine dust sensor. Active air purification with dual filters monitors the in-vehicle air quality in real time, and removes 99% of fine particulate matter, which maintains a clean and fresh cabin environment.

Innovation in Powertrain for Go-Anywhere Versatility

As an authentic Genesis, GV80 is based on a unique rear-wheel-drive platform; all-wheel drive is optional. GV80 will launch in the home market of South Korea with a Genesis-exclusive, 278-ps 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel engine. Maximum torque is 60.0 kgf.m. GV80 is designed to achieve best-in-class dynamic performance and fuel economy. When equipped as a five-seat model with 19-inch wheels, the rear-wheel-drive diesel GV80 variant returns 11.8 km/l.Two turbocharged gasoline engines will join the lineup shortly after market launch.

GV80 models equipped with all-wheel drive will feature Multi-Terrain Control, the capability to tackle all kinds of surfaces. Sand, mud and snow modes are available, thanks to the electronically controlled Limited Slip Differential at the rear axle.

Electronically controlled suspension with road preview, another Genesis first, helps provide passengers with optimal ride comfort by recognizing information on the road ahead in advance through front cameras and navigation information.

“Our chassis engineers matched these versatile drive modes to an electronically controlled suspension with road preview that employs the intelligent ADAS camera to detect obstacles like speed bumps and adjust the damping forces accordingly,” said Albert Biermann, President, Head of Research and Development Division at Hyundai Motor Group.

Advanced Safety Is Not an Option

Like each member of the Genesis lineup, GV80 provides an unmatched level of standard active and passive safety systems, as part of a brand-level engineering commitment to passenger security and comfort.

“When it comes to safety, GV80 is designed not only to protect its occupants from accidents, but also from accidents from happening at all.” Biermann said.

GV80 features the following advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), including several world-first technologies:

  • Smart Cruise Control with Machine Learning (SCC-ML): A world first, SCC-ML advances the science and engineering behind smart cruise control. It is an artificial intelligence-based intelligent navigation technology that helps enable GV80 to independently learn the driving characteristics of its drivers and implement autonomous driving similar to that of human drivers.
  • Highway Driving Assist II (HDA II): This system helps assist the driver in a wider variety of situations than before, including lane change when the turn signal is used, and helping to merge in congested situations.
  • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA): This system is able to help automatically bring GV80 to a stop, if there is a risk of collision with an approaching vehicle on the left or right side of the intersection. GV80 is also able to detect potential collision risks, if a pedestrian is in close proximity to the vehicle while in motion.
  • Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance Assist (BCA): BCA helps reduce the chance of potential impact with a moving vehicle, upon departing a parallel parking spot.
  • Rear Cross-traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA): This system uses rear side radar to help detect and prevent impact with obstacles.
  • Driver Attention Alert Warning (DAW): This system monitors the driver’s attention when driving, by analyzing driving patterns and behaviors, including intermittent steering and unnatural deceleration, through vehicle signals, such as steering angle and steering torque and vehicle position in traffic lane. A forward-looking camera monitors the driver and generates pop-up messages and warning tones when fatigue or forward-looking neglect is determined.

GV80 also includes 10 standard airbags, including a center-mounted airbag between the front occupants to mitigate interior impact.

Next-Generation Convenience

GV80 leverages the Genesis brand wide commitment to service and convenience with industry-leading remote technology.

Genesis CarPay, a feature unique to the South Korean market, helps to simplify out-of-car payments like refueling. It is a simple in-car payment service that allows drivers to easily pay through the navigation screen without the hassle of separately using cash or a credit card.

Real time Remote diagnosis provides quick and accurate identification of vehicle issues through analysis of vehicle data, without the need for a service visit. Smartphone-enabled technology also allows GV80 drivers to remotely check on their vehicles and its surroundings.

Built for You and Your Lifestyle

When GV80 launches in January 2020, customers in South Korea will be able to take advantage of the “Your Genesis” build-to-order program. Customers will be able to specify engine, drive wheels, number of seats, vehicle color, wheel design, and option packages, to create individual GV80 SUVs that are truly their own. GV80 will launch with 11 exterior color options and five interior colors. Build-to-stock models will also be available.”

Video Details New 2020 Toyota GR Yaris https://automotivesblog.com/video-details-new-2020-toyota-gr-yaris/ https://automotivesblog.com/video-details-new-2020-toyota-gr-yaris/#respond Sat, 18 Jan 2020 19:43:33 +0000 https://automotivesblog.com/?p=1480 More]]> Toyota`s hardcore division Gazoo Racing, or simply put GZ, has recently announced some important updates for the 2020 Yaris, the model being highlighted in the video below. Aussie magazine PerformanceDrive also provided the technical details. In Australia, the model is yet to be announced, but rumor has it that it would arrive in the second quarter of the year.

The 2020 Toyota GR Yaris, aka GR-4, drops the conventional look in favour of a more aggressive and much sportier design language. Inside, the same sporty feel is present as well, while underneath the hood, the new engine provides more power and exciting engine soundtrack.

Exterior Tweaks

As Toyota said, the new GR-4 Yaris is “a rally car for the road,” providing advanced aerodynamics; it also “pushes vehicle performance to the limit.”

The car`s new dimensions are also impressive. It comes with a front track of 1,530mm, while the rear one stands at 1,560mm. the wheelbase is set at 2,558mm, making it extremely stable at high speeds and tight corners. The wheels measure 225/40R18 front and rear, respectively, and come equipped with Dunlop SP Sport MAXX 050 tires.

Engine Features

Besides the new aerodynamics and sportier interior, the GR`4`s main highlight is the engine under the hood. It is about the new 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder pot, with 192kW and 360 Nm of torque, which turns the Yaris into a real beast; in fact, it is considered one of the most powerful compact hatches in the world. The power is sent to the wheels via a high-performance six-speed manual transmission, enabling a quick response from 0 to 100 km/h. Unfortunately, no official figures are yet given.

You can find the official technical data below, along with the exciting video presentation of the 2020 Toyota GT Yaris. Enjoy and don’t forget to tell us if you like the little beast!

McLaren 720S by Carlex Design, Interior Highlighted https://automotivesblog.com/mclaren-720s-by-carlex-design-interior-highlighted/ https://automotivesblog.com/mclaren-720s-by-carlex-design-interior-highlighted/#respond Thu, 16 Jan 2020 17:06:00 +0000 https://automotivesblog.com/?p=1366 More]]> The McLaren 720S is one of the most impressive supercars ever built on the market, with staggering performance, advanced aerodynamics and technology at its highest. However, the model is commonly seen in the tuning world, with many programs to reflect its exquisite personality and great stance. There is also the 720S Spider, the supercar also sharing its success with the hardtop sibling. Both are exclusive and receive exclusive treatments from different tuning companies.

Tuners like Carlex Design are meant to shape out the car`s standard looks, providing exquisite updates at the exterior as well as inside or under the hood. In this case, the German tuner has turned the interior of the below McLaren 720S into something unique and high-class.

The design and the colour scheme are purely amazing, demonstrating once more the tuner`s craftsmanship when dealing with such extravagant rides.

When you enter inside, you get hit by a purple interior with different contrasts and Alcantara, which was the owner`s choice, of course. We are dealing here with maroon suede on the dashboard, part of the door cards or seats, along with purple leather, contrast stitching and white accents, all in contrast with the unique upholstery on the steering wheel. Further details are provided in the media gallery below.

As for visual upgrades, the tuner decided to add a sort of bird wing graphic with the wings ‘’mounted’’ on the doors, creating the idea of a praying bird when both doors are open. The performance hasn’t been altered as well, the supercar featuring the same 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbocharged engine, with 720 horsepower and 770 Nm of torque.

Thanks to the extended use of carbon fiber composites and other performance tweaks, the McLaren 720S is capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in a staggering 2.9 seconds, while the 0 to 200 km/h is done in just 4.6 seconds. That with a top speed of 320 km/h.

As for fuel efficiency, considering the impressive power and torque, the McLaren 720S is burning out just 10.7 liters per each 100 km on a combined circle, which is just mind-blowing. The CO2 emissions also stand at 249 g/km in the New European Driving Cycle.

Besides the standard 720S, the Spider variant also got its share of customizations from another famous tuner like Novitec. Novitec is a German tuning company also specialized in supercar customizations. The Spider received a splendid carbon fiber aero kit, part of the N-Largo package, consisting of wide front and rear bumpers, updated side skirts and a set of new wheels. Besides the aero kit that increases the supercar`s aerodynamics, the McLaren 720S Spider also received a tuning package that consistently increases performance and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h.

In conclusion, it doesn’t matter if you own a saloon car or a supercar with advanced aerodynamics from the factory. There are plenty of tuning companies out there that can create the most daring projects ever seen.

Back to our post, Carlex Desing has also released a couple of photos with its latest creation. Enjoy the ride and don’t forget to tell us what you think about the tuner`s latest project! Enjoy!

Videos: 2020 Genesis GV80 – Teased ahead Official Unveiling https://automotivesblog.com/videos-2020-genesis-gv80-teased-ahead-official-unveiling/ https://automotivesblog.com/videos-2020-genesis-gv80-teased-ahead-official-unveiling/#respond Thu, 16 Jan 2020 16:52:08 +0000 https://automotivesblog.com/?p=1343 More]]> The BMW X5, Audi Q7 or the Mercedes-Benz GLE have now an official competitor in the shape of the Genesis GV80 luxury SUV, set to officially debut in just a couple of days. Today, the long-awaited SUV was revealed in two teaser videos and photos which can be seen below.

The making of the SUV dates back in 2017 when it was first previewed as a concept at the New York Auto Show. Gradually, the project became a reality and will turn out to be a worthy competitor to the likes of the Mercedes-Benz, Audi or BMW.

The South Korean carmaker released the two teaser video on YouTube and ask “When was the last time you`ve experienced something for the first time?” However, just like any other teaser video, it says almost nothing about the car`s shape, interior tweaks or anything else. It is a good thing we have previous leaked images that give us a clue about the design language.

Estethically, the 2020 Genesis GV80 will adopt a more down-to-earth design language than the much more sophisticated Concept. However, we would have preferred the latter`s slimmer and more advanced grille. The GV80 will feature instead a massive pentagonal grille along with quad lamps, which is rather the same one found on the newly announced 2020 G90.

Introduced as “the first SUV by Genesis”, the 2020 GV80 will be high-tech inside the cabin as well. There will be a lot of high-end materials on the dashboard and seats, as well as a two-spoke steering wheel which provides a sportier feel. Also, the conventional buttons for the dash will be minimalistic, while the traditional gear-lever will be replaced with a rotating, jewel-like electronic gear selector. The infotainment system will also come with a standalone touch-screen, along with a digital instrument panel.

As for motorization, it is believed that the 2020 Genesis GV80 would first come with a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V6 offered with 274 horsepower and 589 Nm of torque, and hooked to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Later on, the South Korean carmaker would also introduce a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder, developing 300 horsepower and 422 Nm of torque. Both engines will be sold in the United States.

Not long ago, Genesis also announced the introduction of the G90 in the large luxury sedan segment, the model becoming thus a worthy competitor for the new BMW 7-Series, Mercedes-Benz S-Class or Audi A8.

The 2020 Genesis G90 is a completely new car, and the changes are instantly visible at the exterior. Thanks to the company`s new design language called “Athletic Elegance”, the luxury sedan looks more mature yet retains the same classic stance.

Inside, things are brought to a whole new level, thanks to the high-end materials and technology at its best. And yes, it is the same technology you can find on the new 7-Series or brand-new Audi A8, only it comes standard. So, you don’t have to cash in for additional features. Standard is the 12.3-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along the plethora of safety features, also coming as standard. These include rear cross traffic alert, lane keep assist, forward collision warning, or Safe Exit Assist, the latter one waning the driver of oncoming traffic when the door is open. There is also the manufacturer`s Highway Driving Assist system with adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist, both being semi-autonomous systems that keep track of bumper-to-bumper traffic on the highway.
